First dropped on the Defected stage at Holland’s Lakedance festival to a rapturous reception and then tried, tested and tweaked during last summer’s festival season, Chocolate Puma’s ‘Hypnotism’ is all about hard hitting drums, syncopated percussion, lo-fi pan flutes and some guy talking about self hypnosis. What more do you need?
Next on Pssst Music is Chocolate Puma’s latest collaboration with their buddy Gregor Salto, inspired by the whole Dance Mania / Chicago / Robert Armani vibe of the late ’80’s, but with big Salto / Choco twist for 2012.
For the next release on our label Pssst Music we went back to our love for Acid House. Go-Go Boots is all about the repetitive bass synth sound we all know so very well. We added some deep pitched vocals, topped it of with a big ass kick drum and a sprinkle of weird noises and you have 6.33m of heaviness.
The BeatThiefs pay an old remix debt to Chocolate Puma in the way of a solid 3am underground track. Centred around a pumping groove, they cunningly pepper their effort with flashes of the original, showcasing their ability to place the right elements of a track a just the right time to achieve devastating effect!
Pssst label heads Chocolate Puma team up with fellow Dutchman Gregor Salto for the next release on their label. Choosing to be highly selective with their releases has paid dividends; a triumph of quality over quantity, and ‘Tragito De Ron’ is no exception. Winding its way through chopped Latin vocal samples and insanely hard-hitting drums, this is hip-shaking, hand-waving, infectiously danceable house at its very finest.
Dutch House Masters Chocolate Puma team up with fellow Dutchies Firebeatz for a bouncy, beat heavy house groove complete with vocal chants that stay just the right side of irritatingly infectious! The original builds itself around a bassline so lively it’s as if it’s talking to you, while the Hardcore Mix twiddles with those filters and creates some dark, squelchy loveliness for everyone to play around in.
